I first met Rommel at Star Aquatics in 2015 when my two sons were learning to swim where he was the deck supervisor. Thanks to the encouragement from him and his colleagues, my sons quickly grasped how to swim, a valuable life skill. While my kids were going through the various color-coded stages of swimming, I found Rommel to be very knowledgeable, engaging, and encouraging in many ways. He was the one who would evaluate kids, promote them to the next stage and inform parents of the areas they need to work on, and update them on how they are progressing. Rommel has a firm handle on exactly how to correct his students and takes the time in increments to ensure that they are swimming correctly and not just quickly. His personality and approach made a huge difference in how things are run, how it is organized, how it is taught, and how it is done right. He informed parents in a very professional and friendly manner of how children are performing and maintained a rapport that was rare from previous instructors. He is extremely consistent, reasonable, and worked hard to help kids, isolate issues in kids swimming styles that are not right, help kids and swim teachers in making the sessions meaningful and helpful. After getting to know him and how he teaches, I decided to have private swim sessions with him in my swimming pool over the last 4 years. I have learned the basics of swimming, kicks, hand movements, breath control, and others needed for swimming.
